I started the day with an early morning jog. It did not feel as good as the first time I jogged two days before. Once I got to the park I worked out again and did some fast running around the park for a total of something in between three and four hundred meters every time. My time was around 57 seconds both times that I ran, so I guessed the distance from that. I tried to work out as much as possible to wait for Rayn, but I had to go because of the wedding.
Once at home I had lunch really early and looked for the wedding hall on triplinx. Obviously I had a really nice long shower and styled my hair. In a nice suit I could not go with my hair just randomly going in different directions. Somehow I finally learned to style my hair after the haircut I had back home.
My outfit for the wedding was really stylish and someone told me through Instagram that it was quite unusual to see me dressed that formal and classy.
It took me two hours to get to the wedding hall and I just slept through most of the trip.
Once I arrived I met the deejay and did the soundcheck. At the beginning I was so scared because my guitar was not working and I had left the square batteries in Richmond Hill. Then I saw that the batteries were different even from those ones, so I started to panic a little bit. But in the end everything it worked and everything went well.
After the soundcheck I met Troy, one of Sabrina’s cousins from the UK. There was also a buffet with lots of stuff I would have liked to try, but I did not take anything thinking that it would stay there even after the ceremony.
When the wedding started I realized one thing: when Sabrina said that I had to play while she was walking down the aisle, she did not mean a church’s aisle. In fact, it was an Indian wedding. There were others non-Indian, but it was mainly Indian people from two different groups. Everything was so different and colorful instead of the white that usually goes along with western weddings.
I played the guitar when Sabrina got in and I do not even remember what she did, how much time she took to get to weds area. I just remember how worried I was because I could not hear my finger-pick in the speakers. The volume might have been too low but I was lucky that I did not even had to finish the second chorus because Sabrina was already there by the end of the second verse. The deejay cut me off with a nice slow fade out.
I enjoyed the ceremony and at the end of it, when the newlyweds exchanged their rings and vows, I almost cried because of the emotions that were flowing in the air. Hearing them exchanging love promises made want to get married in that exact moment.
I congratulated Sabrina as soon as I had the chance to steal her for one second from all her relatives and friends. She was so happy, but I guess it is the standard procedure when someone comes playing the guitar for your wedding from the other part of the world.
I ate naan and other Indian food all alone until my table filled up with strangers. It was so awkward that I just decided to go back home with the public transportation. I left a message for Sabrina because I did not want her to worry about me and left.
I walked so much and waited one hour. It was so long that I almost decided to go back to the wedding hall and wait for the final rituals, but then I got lucky enough to meet a bus driver that helped me getting back home. I guess he saw how lost I was and wanted to help. Canadian people are so kind. I know I did not met many, but the percentage is still quite high among those I met.
I was lucky to get on a bus that took a shortcut through the highway, so I actually saved thirty minutes comparing to when I was going to the wedding.
I vlogged the day and just went to sleep. Crazy how much time of the day I just spent on a bus.
