When you actually have lots of time and you are alone, you got to be disciplined. Unfortunately, I am not. I spent the morning doing nothing and double checking things online even though I knew that I had so much to do. Learning the songs for the wedding for example.
I went out from my room just to have breakfast and lunch. Since I did not buy any oil or salt, my tomato sauce was not as good as it should have been (it was so sourish) but I forced myself to finish everything. I was already one meal behind because of Amy’s soup the day before, so I did not want to waste any more food or leave it in Amy’s fridge.
I spent the afternoon practicing the finger-picking of Marry Me and trying to learn the lyrics for “She Will Be Loved”. I did this in the bathroom to avoid annoying Amy. At one point I just lost it and took a really long nap.
I went downstairs to grab something to eat for a quick snack when I met Amy preparing the table and the food for a BBQ. She invited me and I accepted because I love barbecues. She asked me to sing for them, so I grabbed the guitar from my room and started singing while she kept preparing.
Amy’s husband came in the kitchen and he was so surprised to see me singing because he thought the singing was coming from the radio. They both complimented me and it made me feel good. Amy asked me to play something from Shawn Mendes because she was an incredible fan of him.
After a short amount of time, the other guests came to help for the BBQ. It was a family of four people, all Chinese as Amy and her husband. The guests’ family was composed by music lovers. There was the dad, the mom in love with “Hey Jude”, the little daughter 10 years old who was there to study English for two weeks and the grandpa who could not speak English. He was funny because he would keep talking to me and I would not understand anything.
We had the BBQ and I met Amy’s son. I realized that every time she said “My boy” she meant him and not her husband. I spent the BBQ eating Chinese kind of meat and lots of fruit. Mr Wang (the dad from the guests) kept refilling my cup with lychees fruit juice because they all liked so much my singing. Furthermore, I let his daughter play the guitar while I was doing the chords so that we could enjoy the music together.
I spent the rest of the evening talking to Roy about music, manga and life in general. I found out that he uses mangarock too like me. We bonded a lot for the short time we talked and he even showed me his collection of games, manga and action figures. In the end I went to bed really tired even if I did not do that much at all.
